Egyptian Echinoids
These Egyptian Echinoids are the excellently preserved, rounded hard shells of prehistoric sea urchins.
Echinoids (the scientific name for sea urchins) are incredible spiny animals closely related to star fish and sea cucumbers. Despite appearences, these are fairly mobile animals and are known to eat organisms ranging from algae to mussels.
These stunning fossils are amazing as they bridge the gap between modern and prehistoric ecosystams.
