Hackmanite is a marvelous translucent mineral which apprears a lovely pink-purple colour under visible light, but shows an amazing vibrant pink colour when exposed to ultraviolet light.
Hackmanite is a variety of sodalite which distinguishes itself by exhibiting the rare property known as tenebrescence, which is the reversible ability for a mineral to exchange colour when exposed to light. This effect is accelerated by ultraviolety light.
