Tourmaline in Feldspar

This Tourmaline in Feldspar consists of beautiful rough, black and opaque pieces of the silicate mineral tourmaline in white, opaque feldspar.

The form of tourmaline here is known as schorl. Its black colour is a result of the presence of iron ions within it.

Feldspar is a different type of silicate mineral making up a significant portion of Earth's crust, and is formed from crystallising out of molten rock.

Hardness: Tourmaline: 7-7.5

                Feldspar: 6-6.5
